Hitachi Metals has wide variety of soft magnetic materials and has developed the first nano-crystalline soft magnetic material in the world, called “FINEMET®”. FINEMET® has high saturation flux density and high permeability with stable temperature characteristics. These soft magnetic materials provide excellent performance in electromagnetic noise suppression and contribute to energy saving. FINEMET® will be the best solution for electric and electronic devices due to its unique soft magnetic properties, reduced size and weight. In 1970’s, Metglas Inc., a subsidiary company of Hitachi Metals, developed and produced an amorphous metal ribbon, a unique alloy that exhibits a structure in which metal atoms occur in a random pattern. The key to this proprietary manufacturing process is rapid-solidification of molten alloy at a rate of approximately one million degrees Celsius per second. Amorphous metals are used in power line transformers and industrial transformers. The railway harnesses include harnesses with connectors used in driver's cabs, long harnesses for lighting, power sockets, under-floor, and cubicles used in passenger cars and protective covers assembled to meet different applications. The NH-WEP Series is comprised of rolling stock cables with a 30 kv voltage rating that will be used mainly on high-speed trains. The NH-WEP Series has succeeded in the production of halogen-free wires and cables by adopting covering materials such as cross-linked polyolefin.
