The Hitachi Group exhibited at the "Innovation Live! Summit 2016" which has been created as a platform to bring government and business together to accelerate innovation, encourage partnership and position the UAE as a global centre of innovation. The Innovation Live! initiative supports H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai’s vision for an innovative, efficient future. The summit was held in Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai, United Arab Emirates on November 21st 2016.

Hitachi participated in regular advisory board member meetings to shape the program and create a platform for innovation. The summit was attended by different goverment entities, private companies, international entrepreneurs, universities, institutes, and research centers. MEED's objective was to drive business and government collaboration during UAE Innovation Week.

Hitachi Activities

Hitachi group companies were a solid contributer to the summit through the following activities:

Hitachi participated in an advisory board meeting with MEED to highlight and discuss key issues, regulations, projects, challenges, recommendations, and formats for the summit.

Hitachi represented by Mr. Hans Lindemen (Senior Vice President, Hitachi Convergence EMEA, Hitachi Consulting), Mr. Ben Hamado (Business Development Manager, Hitachi Ltd. Middle East Branch), and Mr. Patrik Sjöstedt (General Manager, Hitachi Insight Group) participated in the water- cooler discussion group to help solving 7 key challenges:

  • - Sustainable Energy Challenge: Meeting the growing long term energy demand sustainably
  • - Transport Challenge: Developing seamless and integrated transport systems
  • - City Challenge: Evolving into efficient, future proof cities
  • - Healthcare Challenge: Patients , technology and unified standards at the heart of healthcare
  • - Industrial Challenge: Diversifying the industrial, manufacturing and logistics sector
  • - Education Challenge: Enabling high quality and relevant education as an engine of growth for the economy
  • - Start up Challenge: Supporting start-ups and SMEs

The output was seven valuable green papers which were published and displayed by MEED at the Watercooler Pavilion at MEED’s Innovation Live! Summit.

Mr. Patrik Sjöstedt, General Manager, Hitachi Insight Group participated in the panel discussion titled “Industrial Diversification”

Mr. Patrik Sjöstedt, General Manager, Hitachi Insight Group gave the presentation titles “IoT Beyond the Hype”.

Hitachi team used a state of the art demonstration technology called smart mirrors to showcase social innovation primary solutions such as: smart cities, smart energy, smart industry, public safety, security, analytics, robotics, AI, IoT, IoT Platform “Lumada”, Above “Burj Khalifa” area, and “Marina” area.

Hitachi group companies’ zone was the center of attention for over 150 visitors during the summit. With the extraordinary demonstration methods aligned with the state of art technologies used by Hitachi group companies, Hitachi highlighted its presence and showcased effective solutions to address a diverse variety of domains such as smart cities, smart energy, smart industry, public safety, and many others.
